The popular traditional name for the Caves is “Chirorodziva” meaning the Pool of the Fallen. The name was derived from an incident which occurred in the 1800's when the Angoni Tribe, who were moving toward the north ambushed people living near the Caves and flung them into the pool, talk about ruthlessness! Its giving eerie vibes isn't it? but not to worry one thing about this place is it will give you goosebumps, the right kind of goosebumps as it exudes serenity that transcends all understanding.

The main feature of the caves is the wonder hole which is a swallow hole with a collapsed roof. The walls drop down vertically into the sleeping pool in which most adrenaline junkie's s normally use for scuba diving. The pool is by far the bluest and crystal-clear reflecting great depth of still water and a deeper connection of pools.

Chinhoyi caves offers a variety of activities which will make your tour much more memorable, there is a beautiful outdoor picnic area blooming with flowers and vegetation which allows for you to feel the cool breeze and smell the scent of nature.
