KAZUNGULA'S SECRETS

There are more than 150 tripoints in the world but only ONE international quadripoint.

A quadripoint is a point that touches the border of four distinct territories

The Kazungula Quadripoint is the world's only point where 4 countries geographically meet.

Kazungula means a small Sausage Tree (a wonderful tree found in the region with big sausage-like fruit.

You can stand in Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana which meet at the eastern end of the Caprivi Strip, commonly known as the 4 corners of Africa.

The Caprivi Strip itself was surrendered by Britain to what was then German South-West Africa (now Nambia) - presumably from Bechuanaland (Botswana) - in order to allow the German colony to have access to the Zambezi river.

The Zambia-Botswana ferry at Kazungula is still the only way to cross the border between those two countries, and the only way to cross from Zimbabwe into Namibia.

Because of the vast area involved in countries, no international quadripoints have ever been claimed.
