The Elephant Camp offers guests an empowering tapestry of experiences that come together to inform the heart, educate the mind and reconnect guests with the natural rhythm of nature.
The Suites
The Elephant Camp’s suites display their own unique elegance, with a picturesque view spilling before them. Each tent adorns a spacious deck, a private plunge pool and an outside shower, all of which are ideal locations for relaxation and appreciation of the surrounding landscape. Even the bath offers an unparalleled view of the horizon. The rooms have been deliberately sculpted to celebrate the openness of the African bush, and there is an easy flow from the bathroom to bedroom to private lounging area that spreads onto the spacious deck through glass French doors. The stylish furnishing and décor has been specifically selected to capture the beauty of the natural environment, retaining the authenticity of the African wilderness. The suites are pregnant with comfort, it is as if one is laying in a bed of marshmallows, so soft and mushy!
Luxury Tented Suites
The suites are equipped with air conditioners and ceiling fans, which are a welcome comfort after a day spent under the blazing African sun. There is a tea and coffee station as well as a well-stocked mini bar, both of which are replenished daily. All suites are gorge facing, and during sunrise and sunset, the cloud of mist that hangs over the rainforest is illuminated by an array of deep colors that merge between red and orange.
Traditional Safari Ambience
While remaining mindful of the environment, The Elephant Camp strives to provide impeccable luxury accommodation and service in arguably the most beautiful location on the earth. The decor evokes a traditional safari ambience with rich colors, wooden artefacts and an open-air design. During the rainy season when the Zambezi is at peak capacity, guests are lulled to sleep by the "Smoke That Thunders" as the river gushes over the side of the cavernous gorge. The therapeutic and natural ambience is accentuated by the calls of a diverse population of bird life that nest around the camp.
The Food/ Cuisine
The Elephant Camp is the ultimate taste bud buddy when it comes to food, you will get two for the price of one as you will not only enjoy the succulent taste of their meals but also dine with a view of the Victoria Falls, my oh my looks like both the belly and the eyes will be having a feast! The Elephant Camp dining experience merges an Afrocentric design with artisanal cooking techniques reflective of the global food scene. A Zen atmosphere flows from the tranquil surroundings and engulfs the dining areas, creating a space that is sophisticated and comfortable, yet wild and exciting. The dining experience promises a sensory journey of taste, smell and sight, creating a recipe for pure indulgence.
Building on time-honored techniques, Head Chef Nicholas and Head Chef Brian present a modern, seasonal menu inspired by the finest wild game meat, organic vegetables and flavors foraged from around the world. The menu boasts char-grilled and smoking techniques that bring a traditional taste to unique and unusual local ingredients. Plates are punctuated with bursts of sweet, salty, acidic and experimental notes. The safari dining experience that The Elephant Camp creates will take guests on an exclusive culinary circuit that is inspired by the breathtaking scenery and different seasonal ingredients. The outdoor pizza oven creates the opportunity for a more tangible connection between diners and chefs. While the handmade pizzas bake, families and friends can relax on the environmentally friendly deck overhanging the wilderness and admire the sweeping view of the Victoria Falls and gaping crater of the Batoka Gorge
The Cape Winelands are home to some of the most prestigious wine farms in Southern Africa. Dean’s time at Le Quatier Francais’s the Tasting Room has equipped him with ability to beautifully pair velvety reds with the winter menu, and crisp whites with the dishes that celebrate hot summers. Guests can have their meals while indulging in the sweeping view of the savannah with the spray of the Victoria Falls sitting on the horizon, from either the balcony of the main lodge, or as a romantic meal for two on the private deck of your room.
