Since 1915, our famous five star hotel has been renowned for providing a very special brand of service. When you step into the elegant foyer at Meikles, you will know you have made the right choice. The smartly-turned out, professional and welcoming staff, meticulous attention to detail, the grand piano being quietly played to guests relaxing over coffee and cakes, indulgent spa treatments and world-class facilities are all hallmarks of our hotel. As befits our status as an international hotel, security is a priority, with the hotel and its guests protected around the clock by electronic surveillance systems in all public areas, in room corridors, at exits and entrances and by uniformed and plainclothes security personnel in and around the hotel.
The natural warmth of the Zimbabwean people is reflected in the welcome given to our guests by our trained and experienced staff, many of whom have served Meikles Hotel and its guests for long periods of time – in some cases for 40 years! They understand that the service standards expected by guests at Zimbabwe's premier hotel should be second to none and this is a key message that is also passed on to our young and enthusiastic trainees, of whom there are a sizeable number in the various departments at any given time.

Following a major, almost two-year-long, US$9m revitalization of the hotel, the entire signature North Wing was refurbished and modernized, opening in September 2013 to grand acclaim. This wing now includes a new, exclusive Club Lounge, private kitchen and chef, sumptuous boardroom for 12, conference room and state-of-the-art gymnasium.
For this impressive restyling Meikles entrusted the vaunted Cape Town-based interior design company Weixelbaumer Design, who in 2008 refurbished The Cape Grace, one of South Africa’s most prestigious hotels. That superior artistry and that of the Meikles uniqueness are showcased on their website www.weixelbaumerdesign.co.za.
In preparation for our Centenary in 2015 Meikles has proudly emerged as one of the most distinctive hotels one could stay in. The North Wing rooms maintain the traditional charm and elegance of “classic” Meikles while moving the hotel into the modern, stylish era and showcasing bold, colorful African glamour.
Every North Wing room is unique and features superb hand-painted fabrics and African ceramic torso artifacts using the colors of the Zimbabwe flag. They are indeed Modern Masterpieces! The piece de resistance is the incredible Presidential Suite.
South Wing Rooms feature new beds and flat-screen televisions. They are more traditional and were not part of the major 2013 refurbishment. They have an “Out of Africa” ambiance complemented by rich mahogany furnishings.
Inter-connecting rooms are available in the South Wing to create family suites. There are 12 floors of non-smoking rooms as well as rooms for guests with disabilities.
