Where we are

Musangano Lodge is conveniently situated a 3 hours’ drive from the capital Harare (236 km) at the gateway of the Eastern Highlands. It is 1.5 km away from the main road that links Harare (international airport) with the border town of Mutare (28 km away from the Lodge), the exit point for Mozambique. From there it takes you a mere 3 hours to reach the Indian Ocean.

Our Accommodation

Musangano Lodge offers spacious and well-equipped accommodation under thatched chalets and lodges for up to 32 guests. All houses are tastefully furnished, with attention to detail, and decorated in an ethnic style to create a homely and cosy atmosphere. They are well spaced for your privacy and yet only a few minutes away from the restaurant and reception area. From the covered porches visitors will appreciate the outstanding distant views across the broad Odzi River Valley towards the dramatic granite ramparts of the Eastern Highlands. Our picturesque Cuckoo Campground is an ideal stopover en route to Mozambique, Masvingo, Gonarezhou and/or the Save Conservancy. Furthermore, it is a perfect location for touring the many attractions of the Eastern Highlands.

Ample and Airy

Our chalets and lodges are named after tree species that are not only found on our property but are also characteristic of Miombo woodlands. Since the beginning of time, trees have been our anchor and provider – nourishing us with the air we breathe, increasing our quality of life, and being home to the wildlife we share Planet Earth with. We at Musangano Lodge believe that being surrounded by the iconic Miombo woodland trees contribute to a relaxing and meaningful experience.

Enjoy the fresh clean air, breathtaking sights, and earthy smells and sounds of the African bush landscape on your covered verandah, The tastefully decorated interior promises you comfort with a seating area, DStv, Wi-Fi, a kitchenette, and the promise of warm winter evenings around the large fireplace. The chalet is the ideal option if you are travelling alone or as a couple.

Self-Catering Lodges

We have four spacious lodges with spectacular views over the Eastern Highlands, with a homely interior inviting you to indulge in the comforts inside. You will feel at ease in the large living/dining area, tastefully furnished in an ethnic style with a fully-equipped kitchen. Between four and six guests can be accommodated in the two or three cosy bedrooms with ample seating space for all in the lounge or on the outdoor covered porch. If you visit us in winter, the fireplace will ensure a warm visit, and for our summer guests the verandah is a great place to enjoy a braai with the view of the stars.

This rustic and idyllic campsite guarantees an authentic bush experience for all outdoor lovers. Take in the  woody smells, listen to the soothing sounds, and enjoy the views of the scenic rolling hills while relaxing in front of a fire. The stylish thatched ablution blocks, surrounded by a stone garden, are solar powered and offer immaculate toilet and shower facilities.
