Nyamoumba River lodge is situated along the banks of the mighty Zambezi River , 27 km from the Kariba Dam and on the pinnacle of the Kariba Gorge .

How to get there: Directions to Nyamoumba from Harare

• Depart Harare on the Lomagundi Road, also known as the A1, through Mashonaland West, to the North of the country.

• Approximately 290km on the A1, you will arrive at Makuti, a small town with a recently refurbished fuel station where fuel is predominantly available.

• Continue though Makuti along the winding, but ever-so spectacular, escarpment. The Marongora Parks Office for the Mana Pools and Lower Zambezi region is situated at the top. All National Parks Conservation Fees, Boating Fees, River Usage Fees and Fishing Fees are to be settled here before you can make your way down the escarpment to Nyamoumba.

• Once your fees have been paid to the Zimbabwe National Parks office, turn back towards Makuti for 500m and take the first dirt road to your right. At this turning you will see a small dam down to your right that provides water for the National Parks staff. This road is narrow, being the old Chirundu single-lane semi-tarred road, but has the most breath-taking views of the Zambezi valley floor as it winds along the escarpment.

• Travel along this road for approximately 9.5km before following a small green and yellow sign with “Nyamoumba 36” printed on it pointing to your left. For the next 36km, you will travel with the Zimbabwean escarpment on your left, going through varying landscapes and a few small but manageable river crossings until you reach Nyamoumba camp.
