Popular Birds in Zimbabwe
Having posted a little piece on Birds at Thirty we’ve decided to enrich our readers with some flight knowledge with regards to the species.
So perhaps you want to take birdwatching as hobby but can’t really figure out where to start, here’s your holy grail. Well second answer to the question running in the back of your mind is ;Yes of course our emphasis is only to Zimbabwe and the most notable birds we have found through research are;
Eastern black headed oriole
Status ; Common
It is only found in Africa and has a bright yellow body, contrasting black head and a flesh-colored beak .Ever heard a liquid sounding warble ,accompanied by a whistle? Yes, That’s it!
Greater painted-snipe
Status ; Rare
This gem is a medium sized shorebird that thrives in grassy fields and marshes. It is also found in Asia with a fun fact that these creatures can reverse their roles. That’s right! Females also perform courtship displays while males oversee incubation and raising the chicks. Interesting……
Livingstones turaco
Status ; Common
Only limited to the Southeastern parts of Africa such as Burundi , Tanzania Malawi ,Mozambique and Zimbabwe. the Turaco was named after Charles Livingstone , brother to David Livingstone.
