The lake has sunken trees , Islands and rocky structures that are often a good hiding spot for fish, numerous Birds ,Crocodiles , Hippos and Elephants are found in and around the Dam.

Pantoon boats and bass boats are available for hire, one can bring their own boat.A boat launching site and a jetty to moor your boat is available for use while staying at the retreat.

For accomodation there are 7 chalets that have views of the dam and are surrounded by lush green lawns, a swimming pool and braai area.

Covering about 950 hectares the Forest is one of the protected forests in the country,it has a unique combination of tropical and subtropical vegetation.

The chief trees of this forest are the three great Red,Brown and White Mahogany trees.

The Big tree of Chirinda Forest is a Red Mahogany tree,it was first measured in 1920 and it was over 64 metres high,sadly over the years some of it's upper branched have fallen off and now it stands at 54 metres high.

The big tree blooms in November and has small white flowers.

Chipangali offers a home to animals that are orpharned,injured,abandoned and born in captivity.

At Chipangali wildlife orphanage you find many interesting animals like lions, leopards, hyenas, jackals, serval, tortoises, terrapins, crocodiles, birds of prey, a variety of antelopes and bush pigs. 

A natural history interpretation centre is on site with a tea room. You can end your day by having a braai or picnic on site. 

Open from Tuesday to Sunday from 8am to 5pm , Chipangali wildlife orphanage can be visited for tourism and educational purposes.

The concession spans various prime wildlife habitats including miombo woodland, mopane woodland, riverine forest and a dense baobab population .Animals  include Elephants, Leopards, Hippopotamus, crocodile and other plain games.

Encompassing 124 000 acres of beautiful wilderness. The perennial Mazowe river flows through the area and is fed by the Nyadire and Vambozi rivers.

Makurumure falls also known as Bopoma has a beautiful view and is in a quiet and friendly environment.

The waterfall on Ruzawi river plunges 40 meters down a chasm between rocks that usher it into a plunge pool.

These falls are an untaped tourism site.

Visitors can leave their cars in Tshabalala and walk through the wilderness and experience the sights and sounds on foot. Driving and cycling is also an option.

The Sanctuary has a Braai place with readily available braai packs ,a restaurant and a Bar.

Opens and 6am and closes at 6pm everyday and there is a small entrance fee. Tshabalala game Sanctuary is a place to visit whenever you are in the City of Kings and Queens.

Officially opened in 1964 ,it is the largest museum in Zimbabwe and is located in Bulawayo Centenary Park.

Well known and deemed the best in the region ,the museum houses nine public display galleries.

Some of its exhibitions include a collection depicting the development of mankind from Stone Age,Iron Age to morden man ,a collection of Antelope species indigenous to Zimbabwe ,a Dodo egg ,Butterfly species, Snakes ,Rocks and minerals.

Also found at the museum are a number of eye opening artifacts from Zimbabwe's colonial era.

You need at least a few hours to carefully browse the halls and learn all you can about human beings and the environment.

The Natural museum also has a live Snake exhibition.

The lost ruins lie 135 kilometers from Bulawayo , in Shangani with a proximity to Gweru. Just like the Khami ruins , the architecture of Dhlodhlo or Danangamombe is accredited to the Torwa Dynasty  which was erected after  Khami was annihilated .

The main building is made up of two large platforms covering a distance of more than 900 square metres and 2800 metres.

How to get there ?

As you approach Shangani township from Bulawayo , there will be a  banner directing you to turn right onto a dust road,  Follow the off road course for the next 10 kilometres which will lead you to another sign written Dhlodhlo Ruins and tasking you to turn right again. Continue for another 20kilometees until you reach another sign on the left written Dhlodhlo Ruins .

The popular traditional name for the Caves is “Chirorodziva” meaning the Pool of the Fallen. The name was derived from an incident which occurred in the 1800's when the Angoni Tribe, who were moving toward the north ambushed people living near the Caves and flung them into the pool, talk about ruthlessness! Its giving eerie vibes isn't it? but not to worry one thing about this place is it will give you goosebumps, the right kind of goosebumps as it exudes serenity that transcends all understanding.

The main feature of the caves is the wonder hole which is a swallow hole with a collapsed roof. The walls drop down vertically into the sleeping pool in which most adrenaline junkie's s normally use for scuba diving. The pool is by far the bluest and crystal-clear reflecting great depth of still water and a deeper connection of pools.

Mtarazi Falls is just 11.5Kkm from Pungwe Falls, it is situated in the 2,495 hectares Mutarazi National Park adjacent to the southern boundary of the Nyanga National Park.

HISTORY

The Mutarazi Falls are also the first area to be declared a national park as well as a nation, and the park is managed jointly with the National Park of Nyanga. Mutarazi Falls was thought to be the world's fifth-highest waterfall until 2002. The Gocta Cataracts waterfall was discovered in 2002, pushing the Mutarazi Falls to 6th place as the world's highest waterfall. The length of the two levels drops to over 479 m and, while the waterfall may be the second-highest in Africa, it is also one of the narrowest with a width of just 15 m.

ACTIVITIES

Where do I even begin when it comes to activities, there is so much you can do and just a disclaimer: these activities are not for the weak-hearted.

Rope courses: There are rope courses and different packages for family and those adrenaline junkies. One of the packages includes rope bridges, swings, zip lines, nets, and a lot more fun little challenges.

The 2 suspension bridges are built to look like vines above the Falls, allowing the Mutarazi Falls and its surroundings to have a complete panoramic view as never before.

Skyline: In the country, the SkyLine is the most beautiful zip line. You can find yourself soaring through clouds or crystal clear skies over the 2nd highest waterfall in Africa, depending on the day and weather. At an average height of 500 m and flying for 400 m at 50-70km / hr. It is uplifting as well as exhilarating.

Water rafting: In the Honde valley, you can enjoy water rafting on the Pungwe River. It is situated in the Eastern Highlands of Zimbabwe. Each travel is very distinct from the next, but both are excellent experiences. They are all participatory requiring guests to self paddle their raft down the river under guidance from a professional river guide. Anything between the Pungwe River has it all, from a fun-filled family day out to an adrenaline-pumping good non-stop action.

Other activities include; river bugging, kayaking, bird watching, orienteering, fly fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and camping.

Granite mangosteen is an attractive evergreen tree with greenish yellow flowers and fleshy edible fruits. An infusion of its bark is believed to be a good antiseptic for wounds, culturally believed to treat venereal sores and widely used as an anti-diarrheal remedy. Also high in vitamin C content the tree is also used to brew traditional beverages.

In Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe, close to Botswana, Namibia, and Zambia, there is Kazungula a small border post-settlement. Just to the west is the border village of Kazungula in Botswana, from where there is a ferry service for vehicles across the Zambezi River to the town of Kazungula in Zambia.

Kazungula also has meaning. It means a small Sausage Tree (a wonderful tree found in the region with big sausage-like fruit). I wonder if vegans are allowed to also eat from this tree. Many of these trees are not far from here. However, the fact that this boundary connects both Zambia and Zimbabwe's Victoria Falls with the Chobe National Park in Botswana is of most significance.

The Kazungula bridge construction started in October 2014 .This border post has been described as a key link in the infrastructure of Africa's Zambesia region, linking business from the South to that of the North. Indeed, the border is the meeting point of four nations, and four of Zambesia's seven countries share a mutual boundary at Kazungula. Namibia, Zimbabwe, Botswana, and Zambia, respectively. This is an amazing discovery, I mean you can stand in Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe, and Botswana which meet at the eastern end of the Caprivi Strip.

Boarding the Kazungula ferry across the Zambezi River is the only way to encounter this confluence today. For the brave, it's a frontier crossing, taking time, and determination. Fortunately, there is another, far simpler way to reap the benefits of these four remarkable countries' proximity. Cruise your way through watery wonderlands, spend two nights in each nation and visit the only existing international quadripoint. You may reach a "no man's land," where you are either not in a country or four countries at the same time. Imagine that!

The National Botanical Garden of Zimbabwe is located in the suburb of Alexandra Park, in Harare which is approximately 4 km north of Harare City Centre. It also houses Zimbabwe's National Herbarium. The gardens are nearly 7 square kilometres in size. Initially, it was built in 1902 as a leisure area. In 1962, under the direction of Prof. Hiram Wild, it became the National Botanical Gardens. Half of the gardens are dedicated to indigenous plants from the woodlands of Zimbabwe and include most of the country's 750 species. Other areas include plants typical of the African continent, including rare and endangered species, as well as South American, Indian, Australian and Far East exotics. This is a pleasant place to visit for those interested in plants or forest environments in Zimbabwe. This is a one-of-a-kind slender , shrubby perennial herb that stretches up to 1.5m in height.it I colored in pale yellow on the inside with a often reddish brown on the outside. Also similar to the Gomphocarcus stenophyllus from Kenya and Tanzania the tenuifolius is only found in Zimbabwe and only found in granite kopjes on watershed plateaus.

Portulaca rhodesiana

Colored in bright pink , the herb is yet another rare gem you can only find in Zimbabwe .Thriving in thin soil on granite domes,  the rhodesiana is only available from  the central watershed of Zimbabwe from Matobo to Harare on the eastern parts of Juliasdale.

English Name Fire Bush

It is a shrub or small tree that stretches up to 6m it is famously known for its bright red  show that resembles autumn leaves. In addition , the fire bush is also found throughout tropical Africa (Guinea to Ethiopia) and the southern parts  of Zimbabwe making it somewhat of a rare find.

Nyanga is a place for nature lovers, hikers and adventure seekers and is home to the only skywalk in Zimbabwe and what is considered to be one of the highest ziplines in the world at Mtarazi falls.
